Sumo’s DNA and pedigree comes from a local chef’s passion for Japanese cuisine and who worked at one of the larger chains in Amarillo.  He wanted to cater to his everyday Amarillo neighbor with a smaller menu without compromising quality and complexity but at the fraction of the “Big Box” priced restaurants in town.  Thus, the unique menu that is Sumo’s was born.  You will find plates and menu items with familiar flavors you’d find elsewhere but with a unique flavorful, twist from our Sumo chefs.  The new owners, Jeff, Caitlin, Stephan, and Tawni came to fall in love with the food and the concept and decided to invest in the restaurant.  They want to continue the mission of providing the best Japanese and Asian cuisine to their Amarillo neighbors at a fraction of their competitor’s cost.  Come and taste for yourself and see why people keep coming back to this favorite Amarillo hot-spot.
